Christian - HI

Christian received a stationary bike from the foundation.

In February 2005, after months of refusing to go to the doctor, I was diagnosed with ESRD. Since starting hemo dialysis my health has slowly but surly improved. I am not back 100% but dialysis has given me a certain quality of life. My twelve year old son has been my biggest motivation for a positive future.

Marshall - HI

Marshall received a Trek Mountain bike from the foundation.

I was diagnosed with diabetes in my late 20’s, started taking pills. I tried jogging to lose weight but after some years I became discouraged that I wasn’t losing enough weight. So I stopped jogging. In 2000 I had open heart triple bypass surgery. I take meds for asthma and allergies. I used to be on insulin but I was able to lose 40lbs and get off of insulin. I plateaued at 200lbs and been unable to break the 200lbs mark. I have tried all kinds of diets.

I was diagnosed with IGA Nephopathy in 2002. I lost over 100 lbs. while on the kidney transplant list. With in the last year I have been having trouble loosing the rest of the weight, in fact I have even began to gain a little back. As of April with no significant loss the transplant team has taken me off the list. I am hoping to loose more weight so I can be put back on the list.
